Is Politics Relevant to Your Future on Planet Earth?
Australia has just terminated Kevin Rudd as it’s prime minister and replaced him with Julia Gillard as Australia’s first ever female prime minister, but what relevance does that event really have?
“Whether it is to be Utopia or Oblivion will be a touch-and-go relay race right up to final moment. The race is between a better informed, hopefully inspired young world versus a running scared, misinformedly brain-conditioned, older world. Humanity is in “final exam” as to whether or not it qualifies for continuance in Universe as mind, with the latter’s access to the design laws —called by science “the generalized principles” —governing eternally regenerative Universe.”
“Human minds have a unique cosmic function not identifiable with any other phenomenon—the capability to act as local Universe information-harvesters and local problem solvers in support of the integrity of eternally regenerative Universe.” — R Buckminster Fuller, xxxvi Introduction to Critical Path, c1981.
According to R Buckminster Fuller, considered by many as one of the most important humans of the twentieth century (c1895 – 1983) politics would be irrelevant by the year 2,000AD. Fuller made some fifty predictions throughout his lifetime, and this was one of only two that did not come true.
The other prediction was that poverty and hunger would no longer exist by 2,000AD and yet one billion people will go hungry today.
There have been many assertions that politics and ‘big business’ are one in the same, that they work together for mutual gain. In Australia we have seen a number of Prime Ministers take a ‘stand’ on issues that they believed were in the interest of the country, like taxation reform, health care, a resources tax and others … and do that at their peril.
Invariably the “power brokers” have their way and often one persons political career is ended.
These people of integrity cannot back down, or take a side step. It is not in their making and we have seen that today in Australia as the prime ‘ministership’ changed hands.
What alternative do we have to a political machine?
What Did Buckminster Fuller Mean By “Unevident Selfishness”?
Like many of Fuller’s terms and words there is a clarity and a point that cannot be mistaken.
When I first heard the phrase “unevident selfishness” I felt something ‘hit me’ in the gut … and I stopped the CD to listen again. “People appearing as though they care, and doing good things”, but according to the presenter, the late R Buckminster Fuller in reality they are actually selfish, and doing their best to conceal it.
People interested in bettering their own position.
Isn’t that what we should be doing in our life? I’m sure most would agree, however when you understand there is abundance available, enough for everyone on our planet to be living the lifestyle of a billionaire then it is no longer integrity, (ie it no longer works) and that is what Fuller is saying.
It simply no longer works to be focused on bettering your own position, and everything we see in economies around the world are evidence of this fact. It doesn’t work for one country to try to do better than another, for one person to try and do better than another (especially at the expense of others), it simply keeps in place the old context that there isn’t enough and it creates more problems, more upsets and more ‘scarcity’.
If you have studied some of Buckminster Fuller’s amazing work you will know that he was not making anyone wrong for their “unevident selfishness”, he was just stating a fact, stating what is so … what indeed was happening then in the 1980′s and unfortunately is still happening all over our planet.
The set of CD’s I was listening to are of a wonderful day back on February 26th, 1983 … a day proclaimed as Integrity Day by the City of LA and the State of California. It was proclaimed in honor of Buckminster Fuller and the incredible achievements, artifacts and education this one man produced over a period of some 55 years. The CD set is available from the Buckminster Fuller Institute (http://www.bfi.org).
Copenhagen – Where Do All The Billions Go? And Is It Really Worth It?
I was reading a few comments about Copenhagen and the Climate Change conference, and the concerns expressed about the added costs to tax payers, to rate payers, business and everyone else and then I saw this POLL on the side.
I answered the poll honestly … and was shocked at the results!
Total votes: 1949
Will world leaders succeed with practical solutions on climate change at Copenhagen?
Yes6.82%(133 votes)
No93.18%(1816 votes)
Wow … 93.18% believe there will be no practical solutions come from the Copenhagen conference.
Evidently the target for reduction in carbon emissions needs to be 25% … and that may be a challenge for some people.
I was going to say “some countries” but corrected myself because it’s you and me and your next door neighbor plus your Facebook friends on the other side of the planet who are really going to determine whether we win or not.
I could put that “Whether we survive, or not … it is up to you and me.”
Much of the report is based on the lessons I have gleaned from my study of R Buckminster Fuller.
Buckminster Fuller was nominated for the Nobel Prize and later awarded the Freedom Medal from President Reagan, the highest civil award in the Unites States in 1983.
In many respects President Obama is helping to complete what Bucky proposed was possible, a world that works for everyone and where everyone is able to enjoy it fully.
The future of peace and prosperity is available to us all once we reoriented world production away from weapons and killingry to “LIVINGRY”. President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for something much much more valuable that what he has done to date … he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for who he is BEING, someone who is a stand for world peace.
Mr President … just like Bucky you are showing yourself to be a true Billionaire For World Peace.
Another Example of How ‘LEVERAGE’ Creates Billionaires!
I just read this article that says Tiger Woods is almost a Billionaire from his golf earnings.
Is it actually from ‘playing golf’, or I believe more likely that he became a very marketable product? And as he’s being marketed (on TV, videos, internet, newspapers and magazines etc) who else is being put in the spotlight? His sponsors of course.
Here’s the article:
Tiger Woods, Billionaire.
by Andrew Sharp • Sep 27, 2009 8:52 PM EDT
According to CNBC’s Darren Rovell, today’s $10 million purse for winning the Fed Ex Cup has brought Tiger Woods closer to crossing over the billion dollar threshold for career earnings. He’s still a ways off from the $6 billion that ESPN Magazine once predicted he’d net for his career, but still, not a bad haul, all things considered.
The best part, though? According to Rovell, “agent Mark Steinberg told me they don’t keep track.” And that my friends, is proof that he’s truly rolling in money. Even wealthy people have to keep track of their earnings, but the among the truly, outrageously rich billionaires?
Don’t get me wrong, I love Tiger and much of what he stands for … excellence, commitment, abundance and more.
When you look down Tiger’s list of sponsors you see the cream of the corporate world, with Nike, AT&T, Gillette and others. At the same time as reading the article above I also was sent this short video, and I suppose was shocked hearing that of the top 100 “economic units” as they are called today, 49 are countries and 51 are corporations. Now you’ve heard of them haven’t you … of course you have. They are experts (so some say) in the financial marketplace … that’s the marketplace that has caused the marketplace to “crash” isn’t it?
Interesting?
“Four out of ten Australians would run out of savings after a month if they
lost their jobs and higher income families won’t necessarily last longer.
Dun & Bradstreet’s Consumer Credit Expectations Survey for the September quarter
found 39 per cent of respondents would only survive 30 days on their current savings.”
Well … when I saw the headlines in todays NEWS (www.yahoo.com) saying “Aussies 30 days from being broke” it reminded me of a three day seminar I participated in fifteen years ago called “Money & You“.
In fact it was my wise mother who introduced me to the course indirectly by sending me a copy of Robert Kiyosaki’s first book. No, the book wasn’t Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Read the rest of this entry »
Fuller and Deming Will Be Seen As The Real Billionaire Makers!
Everyone today knows the name Bill Gates, but how many people have heard of Buckminster Fuller and Edwards Deming? Not as many as soon will as the future quickly heads towards us via the Information Super Highway.
In his book, “The Road Ahead”, C1995 … Bill Gates tells his story of what the Information Super Highway (Network) may be like and today, in 2009 some of it is here like the easy access to information and entertainment.
Mr Gates, as one of the founders of Microsoft shares some of the strategies, and tactics employed by the players in the rise of the computer industry to “profit” from their various hardware and software products and delaying the introduction of a product would occur if it helped the bottom line of the firm.
The major player of the time was of course IBM Computers who … “set the record for the most money ever made by any firm in a single year — $6.6 billion profit. In that banner year IBM introduced its second-generation personal computer, a high performance machine called the PC AT .. ” (P55, The Road Ahead)
In addition to IBM’s ability to delay introduction of new models, it also delayed development of the PC which was starting to become as powerful as IBM’s mini computers which, along with mainframe computers were the major components of the IBM business.
Gates mentions the strategy employed by IBM in the development of the OS/2 to slow it’s competitors and preferably put them out of business.
It certainly sounds like greed and fear and yet IBM had just made $6.6 billion profit in one year.
How Could The Housing Industry Create 10 Billion Billionaires?
For starters it would need to embrace technology. The building industry will need to start doing things differently; very differently.
At this moment I am reading Buckminster Fullers biography At Home In The Universe, by Alden Hatch and also listening to the hammering, sawing, grinding and concrete mixing noises emanating from the site next door where two small houses are being built.
The building works started on 20th February 2009. Can you believe that some work even requires carrying buckets of concrete by hand.
Old fashioned building technology
We are in the 21st Century. The house is certainly the major outlay of money for most people, whether they buy or rent, and yet building practices are the same or very similar to those of the early 20th Century.
What is perhaps alarming is that these houses are being built by the New South Wales government and in particular the ‘education department’.
They are built to ‘building codes and standards’ … nothing experimental or creative.
How would a passive solar home work out here? We are on the edge of the NSW desert with maximum temperatures in the high 40′s and low 50′s Celsius. Every new house built out here sould certainly included PV power generation to and also a grey-water system to complement the rain water tanks. But these two houses every other house in town doesn’t.It rarely rains here and many water tanks remain empty. It makes sense to install grey water systems as well.
Change and progress rarely ever comes from governments or education departments but from private enterprise and entrepreneurs and sometimes existing billionaires.
During the second world war the American factories that were building warplanes were suffering from massive staff ‘turnover’ (as soon as you could get a job out of the ‘war effort’ people were taking them because they knew when the war ended jobs would disappear overnight.
The staff turnover was slowing production and had a detrimental effect on the quality of the finished planes. The US Government called in Buckminster Fuller to see what he could come up with as a way to improve production.
‘Bucky’ had made a big impression all over the world with his innovative thinking.
See a video below of his “Pole Home” concept, developed well before the second world war.
The year was 1944, and for many years earlier ‘Bucky’ had conceived the idea of mass produced, high quality and low priced housing that was factory assembled and air delivered by helicopter. The cost of a two bedroom fully completed fire and flood proofed, hurricane and intruder proofed house was about the same as the cost of a Cadillac or luxury motor car at the time.
The real cost of automobiles has come down and is continuing to come down as technology continues to advance. The quality of the automobile and it’s safety has continued to rise.
The same scenario has happened in the electronics and computer industries, even to the point of the One Child One Computer program developing an advanced laptop computer for $100 each.
These industries have all worked within the design parameters of “doing more with less everyday”, or CANI … Continuing And Neverending Imporovement. This is also called ephemeralisation.
So Bucky recommended that some of the aircraft factories be transformed into factories suitable to produce his “Pole Home” to meet the high demand for affordable housing. The idea was accepted with open arms. It was amazing and gave the workers new hope and job turnover almost stopped.
The war ended and the new “Pole House” housing design received a lot of publicity. Within the next few months 37,000 unsolicited orders were received some with deposit cheques attached. The newly formed company’s stock price soared. However while the stockholders wanted to proceed at once, Fuller knew that the concept was only that, a conceptual mass produced house and that it needed 5 to 10 years to bring it into full scale production.
There were heated arguments as the workers (wanting their jobs to continue) and the shareholders (wanting to make money) disagreed with Fuller’s assessment of the house and it’s need to be fully tested. He did not want to deliver thousands of future problems.
He knew that the design and testing phase of the new houses was critical to a successful business venture. In addition his focus was on providing a solution to the housing crisis … not on making money from other people’s plight.
Buckminster Fuller wound up the company and the Dymaxion House never got off the ground. The demand for his very successful GEODESIC Dome structures soon took Bucky’s attention away as they became in great demand by the military first and then the US government as large exhibition halls that could be transported anywhere in the world and erected by unskilled labour.
The first large dome structure was delivered to Afghanistan and erected within 48 hours of it’s arrival. The same size dome delivered to a US location and erected by skilled US labourers took a total of six weeks to complete. There was a problem.
What has prevented new and more affordable housing technologies from being developed?
In his biography Fuller talks of the difficulty labour has accepting technology and the inevitable loss of JOBS that technology results in. This he believes is freeing human beings to do what is needed to be done, what they see needs to be done.
What could our billionaires do to transform the building industry?
If one ordinary man with no capital can produce a housing design so revolutionary that it was as affordable as a motor car and attracted 37,000 unsolicited orders, what could the leaders of industry do?
Will they do anything at all?
Perhaps they have, as Bucky said sold out or lost control to the Great Pirates as spoken of in GRUNCH.
The ‘profit at all cost’ ideology is still well and truly alive and so the transformation necessary to elevate everyone aboard planet earth to the lifestyle of a billionaire will come from individual integrity. It will come from you and I saying “yes, my house will be energy positive … it will give back more than it consumes and perhaps will even earn me a small part of my living”, and it will come from the synergy we produce when working together.
The town I live in is ideally located to become a positive energy producer from renewable solar and wind generation. One of the major employers in a gold mine by the name of New Gold. Perhaps SOLAR ENERGY is the true NEW GOLD of this part of Australia.

How Important is “Context” to Becoming Who You Want To Be?
The best description of context I have, I received from Robert Kiyosaki back in the early 1990′s.
He drew a bowl of fruit on the white board … and proceeded to tell us that the bowl is the “context”, and the ‘shape of the bowl’ determines the position and behavior of the fruit inside the bowl.
Change the shape of the bowl (the context) and you change the position and shape of what’s inside.
Sounds straight forward, yes?
Watch this 3 minute video with Werner Erhard, the person considered to have introduced the concept of ‘empowerment’ into business rather than ‘management’, as he discusses the importance of ‘context’ … and interestingly it also has an element of empowerment in it too.
Now, at Your Healthy Planet.com we have changed the context from one of scarcity, to one of abundance which is what actually exists in our Universe, but I think you would agree there are some interests around the world who would rather you stay believing that there isn’t enough to go ’round.
Not only is scarcity not the truth any more, it makes people frightened, and afraid to act. It is pervasive throughout the media, throughout politics and business.
I was in a store just three days ago, a new store in town, and I overheard one of the store owners complaining about the economy … and also about how “the Chinese are buying up everything here in Australia.” I was looking for a presentation folder and interestingly everything I saw for sale in the store was ‘made in China’.
So is the scarcity context of these store owners (and almost everyone else) creating more scarcity?
I’m not saying it’s easy to ‘step into a new reality’ … so how can we do it?
One quote that comes to mind from Buckminster Fuller is “Faith is better than belief. With belief, someone else is doing the thinking.”
I have faith that the ‘Great Spirit’ or ‘God’ or whoever you trust in is so present, and has designed this amazing Universe to deliver everything that I desire as long as I maintain that faith. As soon as doubt enters into my thoughts or feelings the possibility has vanished.
I am currently listening to some of Abrahams teachings and find they align with the context of abundance and the truth as I know it. Their teachings deal with various contexts including health and wellbeing, finance (apparently the biggest concern on our planet), relationships and more.
In Your Healthy Planet.com’s members area we are designing services that help introduce the context of abundance into your life and those around you. This is a work in progress and there is an open invitation to participate in helping create a future that is abundant, and one that works for everyone.
Billionaires will fund the 2016 Olympic Games in Chigago … that’s the Plan.
Chicago Mayor Daley and his Olympic planners are doing what planners and creators have done for all time. They are planning and creating, and if they are successful, Chicago, Barack Obama’s hometown will host the 2016 Olympic Games.
An article in the Chicago Reader appears to be concerned about the “investment” or the promise of $500 million made by Mayor Daley and his City Council.
I recall listening to Deepak Chopra many years ago share about a lesson he was receiving from one of his mentors who was designing a world peace project that was estimated to cost many millions of dollars.
One of the students asked “Where will the money come from?” and his teacher answered “From where ever it is right now.”
Will enough billionaires and corporate sponsors get behind the Chicago bid if it is successful to ensure Mayor Daley is not left holding the bag? Past experience says “yes they will” and probably more so than ever before.
What has the most impact on all our lives is the context that we are operating inside of.
Obviously Mayor Daley has a context that is greater than the average household budget … and yet it is still based on ‘scarcity’, which as you will have seen from previous posts ceased to exist back in the early 1970′s.
Persisting with a scarcity context is the same as telling our school children “the world is flat.”
Won’t it be wonderful when we have ten billion billionaires living on our beautiful planet and facilities such as those proposed for Chicago will simply be abundant everywhere and in use by everyone as they are freed from the challenges of earning a living.
Your Healthy Planet.com is an opportunity to express the healthy green and sustainable aspects of your life, your business, club or of the product or service you market.
Being committed to helping cause a healthy green and abundant future (of ten billion billionaires) on board planet earth is the first step is realizing the future that is available to all of us within the next decade.
Buckminster Fuller worked tirelessly on creating artifacts that would support a high standard of living for everyone on planet earth, within the shortest possible time … and without any disadvantage to any body else.
He operated entirely within the principals of an eternally regenerative and abundant universe.
There will be more than enough billionaires to host the Olympic Games in 2016 wherever it is, and even more importantly we want those same billionaires to realize the responsibility they have to help raise every other human being on our planet to their level.
