Facebook … the New “BarnYard”, But Not One For Billionaires!
Ever had a job in the BARN YARD … trying to catch sheep, herd cattle or god forbid try catching pigs or chickens?
There is so much going on and only the experienced farm hand actually gets anything done that’s worthwhile while everyone else runs around expending lots and lots of energy getting sweaty and looking forward to a long cool drink.
Almost two decades ago I participated in a course called Money & You and we played lots of games, including one called the “Barn Yard Game”. It was noisy … there were people yelling, music playing and it was hard to think.
I mean it’s not easy to think at the best of times is it? One of Henry Ford’s famous sayings is “Thinking is one of the most difficult tasks there is, that’s why so few people participate in it.”
Well when people are telling at you this, and telling you that … suggesting we do this, inviting me to do that, it’s even harder to think.
So my strategy with Facebook and I do enjoy the part of catching up with family goings on, is that I now logon, have a look round and then log off.
I am staggered how much time some people spend on Facebook … it’s now the Web’s Ultimate TIME SINK … and it’s growing by the month.
Evidently there is some growing disquiet around Facebook and like others I am seriously considering erasing (if that’s possible) my account … and simply staying with the healthy, green networks I belong to including Your Healthy Planet.com of course.
I honestly doubt that the future billionaires, the people who are leading the conversations towards growing a healthy, green and sustainable future spend too much time on Facebook … chances are they have leveraged that out as well.

My mentor is a great departed American R Buckminster Fuller whom we are all starting to hear more and more about. Considered by many as one of the most important humans of the 20th Century he invested the last 55 years of his life seeking to make human beings a physical success on this beautiful planet.
He was clear that it was absolutely possible, and he was equally clear that you can’t make money and sense at the same time, they are mutually exclusive.
As a close colleague of Henry Ford senior Fuller designed and built an amazing Dimaxion car (see video below) and his Dimaxion house that took 15 minutes to complete all the housework … and this was in 1930’s.
Fuller’s intention with his designs was to “to make sense” and provide an artifact that helped humanity become a physical success on planet earth, not to just make money. Speaking of making sense reminds me of an article I saw short time ago where Volkswagen gave their design engineers a task to deign a small fuel efficient car capable of achieving 500mpg I think the figure was. The designers took on the task, and the result a car that never reached the production line but exceeded the deign brief by achieving 1,000mpg I think the figure was.
Fuller also said that the vast majority of people are being what he called ‘unevidently selfish’ … i.e. we look like we care, but underneath we’re actually improving ‘our lot’ even at the expense of others which means we do not believe or do not understand there is plenty, in fact an incredible abundance for everyone.
And the critical point is that since around 1970 this is no longer integrity, i.e. it no longer works.
Today we spend over 2 1/2 times the amount of money we need to provide a very high standard of living for everyone on our planet, just to ensure that the naughty, the bad, the wrong person doesn’t get more than they should. Sounds insane that we are spending more than 2 1/2 times more money so that we don’t have what we all want.
In 1952 Fuller declared that we now had the resources and the know how to provide for every human being on earth at a very high standard of living. He actually saw that this was quickly becoming possible in 1917.
“Being a technologist and US Navy officer of the line in World War I, I realized back in 1917 that
the possibility of doing progressively ever more with ever less might mean that at some not too distant date we might attain such a magnitude of accomplishing more work with so much less resources that we would be able to take care of all humanity at an unprecedentedly high standard of living.” — R Buckmister Fuller. p111, Cosmography c1983
This was then proven in 1971 by a group of some 1600 International Scientists, that for the first time in history we had the capacity to provide for everyone of earth. Fuller also said that when we actually understand that, and we start working cooperatively rather than competing, we will create 4.5 billion billionaires (c1970).
“If you were spending one thousand dollars a day and you had one million dollars to spend you would last approx 3 1/3 years …. BUT if you had one billion dollars and spent one thousand dollars a day it would take you 3,300 years to run out of money. There’s a BIG difference between one million and one billion dollars.” — you can do the maths.
What do Warren Buffett and Bucky Fuller Have In Common?
Warren Buffet, sometimes ‘wealthiest person’ on our planet … and R Buckminster Fuller, sometimes called the “gentle genius” and “grandfather of the Universe” who often was penniless? What do they have in common?
Initially I thought NOTHING in common, then I thought of a program I saw years ago that looked at Warren Buffett’s life, his business Berkshire Hathaway in particular of which he is Chairman, and his philosophy of success.
This morning I was looking at some of those philosophies and how we could apply some to Your Healthy Planet.com and it’s Ethical Marketplace. The one in particular is that Warren and his business partner have never taken a salary at all and have become two of the wealthiest men in the world from the dividends they earn.
At Your Healthy Planet.com we are doing the same. As the Founding Member and CEO I earn my reward income the same way every other member does and that is the way it will stay. Imagine if we can bring on-board healthy marketing consultants, healthy copy writers, healthy financial planners et al who similarly love what hey are doing and are financially supported by the structure. It means more profits to go into building holistic education centers worldwide. Read the rest of this entry »
What Did Buckminster Fuller Mean By “Unevident Selfishness”?
Like many of Fuller’s terms and words there is a clarity and a point that cannot be mistaken.
When I first heard the phrase “unevident selfishness” I felt something ‘hit me’ in the gut … and I stopped the CD to listen again. “People appearing as though they care, and doing good things”, but according to the presenter, the late R Buckminster Fuller in reality they are actually selfish, and doing their best to conceal it.
People interested in bettering their own position.
Isn’t that what we should be doing in our life? I’m sure most would agree, however when you understand there is abundance available, enough for everyone on our planet to be living the lifestyle of a billionaire then it is no longer integrity, (ie it no longer works) and that is what Fuller is saying.
It simply no longer works to be focused on bettering your own position, and everything we see in economies around the world are evidence of this fact. It doesn’t work for one country to try to do better than another, for one person to try and do better than another (especially at the expense of others), it simply keeps in place the old context that there isn’t enough and it creates more problems, more upsets and more ‘scarcity’.
If you have studied some of Buckminster Fuller’s amazing work you will know that he was not making anyone wrong for their “unevident selfishness”, he was just stating a fact, stating what is so … what indeed was happening then in the 1980′s and unfortunately is still happening all over our planet.
The set of CD’s I was listening to are of a wonderful day back on February 26th, 1983 … a day proclaimed as Integrity Day by the City of LA and the State of California. It was proclaimed in honor of Buckminster Fuller and the incredible achievements, artifacts and education this one man produced over a period of some 55 years. The CD set is available from the Buckminster Fuller Institute (http://www.bfi.org).
Mrs Tiger Woods … Human Beings Are Meant To Make Mistakes!
Perhaps the most important behavioral characteristic of human beings that is being suppressed is our willingness to allow others to make mistakes, and to learn from them.
How difficult it is to give up our judgment of them, to give up our rite to assess them … and to love them even more than we did before, and yet it is all possible.
I recently wrote a post on Tiger’s attraction of the media and his ability to convert his popularity into financial gain for himself and his family, and obviously his attraction magnet charisma and charm attracted more than we say is OK.
No one else knows what it is like to become as successful as Tiger has … I believe David Beckham the soccer player would possible come close, and yes there are many US and European footballers, and baseball players that could be close … but Tiger was considered by many to be in a class of his own.
When my wife mentioned some weeks ago that divorce bells were ringing for ‘Tiger’ … we both couldn’t help but feel how sad that would be for everyone concerned.
I am personally one of the best mistake makers alive today, one of the best. Sometimes I have been really righteous, selfish, arrogant and yet for the majority of my life I’m lovable, devoted, committed, and a bold stand for what I believe in, including the opportunity for everyone on our beautiful planet to be living the lifestyle of a billionaire and yet some people disapprove of me, dislike me (or worse) and that’s their choice in a free world.
I was very very lucky at the age of twenty to have a friend’s mother share that she considered her affair, what she learned from it and dealt with it, and how she grew as a woman and a human being to be one of the most important experiences of her life.
How many ‘opportunities’ to grow as a man or a woman have we allowed to disappear down the stream by making divorce such an easy ‘out’ when a relationship gets tough? The damage bill for our out of integrity … for our indiscretions and lies is enormous and sadly has become accepted, or the norm in society.
Copenhagen – Where Do All The Billions Go? And Is It Really Worth It?
I was reading a few comments about Copenhagen and the Climate Change conference, and the concerns expressed about the added costs to tax payers, to rate payers, business and everyone else and then I saw this POLL on the side.
I answered the poll honestly … and was shocked at the results!
Total votes: 1949
Will world leaders succeed with practical solutions on climate change at Copenhagen?
Yes6.82%(133 votes)
No93.18%(1816 votes)
Wow … 93.18% believe there will be no practical solutions come from the Copenhagen conference.
Evidently the target for reduction in carbon emissions needs to be 25% … and that may be a challenge for some people.
I was going to say “some countries” but corrected myself because it’s you and me and your next door neighbor plus your Facebook friends on the other side of the planet who are really going to determine whether we win or not.
I could put that “Whether we survive, or not … it is up to you and me.”
Your Healthy Planet.comwas launched just ten years ago in March 2010 in the midst of an enormous financial meltdown.
It’s hard to believe but it’s TRUE!
Christmas 2020 and No One Is Hungry! Reports are coming in from all around the globe … and so far there’s not one report of anyone, not one person being hungry at all.
What amazing determination from hundreds and thousands or organizations, some have been working towards this day for years and years and in fact decades.
“What happened that allowed this result so quickly?”
Everyone is asking the question! Evidently, according to business strategists and expert theorists from every corner of the globe; no, no that’s wrong there are no corners on a round globe are there; sorry that’s an ‘old conversation’, from the past.
Just as we used to feel there wasn’t enough for everybody … that’s also an old conversation, with it’s roots right back in the 16th and 17th Centuries. Hardly valid today.
Still people are wanting to know HOW this extraordinary transformation occurred, because it isn’t just food and Christmas that has been affected. It’s everything. There is plenty of everything today … and plenty for everyone.
People have time to relax, time to be with their families and sometimes they are sorting out problems that occurred decades ago when there was never any time, or so they said.
Could a $3 investment back in 2009 have started all this?
Now It’s Time For ‘Green’ Billionaires – Not ‘Greedy’ Ones!
I don’t read the papers often … if it’s not bad news it’s, greed and stupidity.
Wow, I’m angry at the thought of it.
Some of the established ‘players’ are like huge stones rolling down a steep hill … and the only thing to do is to simply ‘get out of the way’. However the momentum they have developed and their size literally has us gravitate or in some way be attracted to them, and into their ‘clutches’. Read the rest of this entry »
Bill Gates was a self professed NERD,at a time when the world thought it needed computers. We hadn’t yet realised that what we needed to know for our survival was staring us in the face, we just had to study it … study nature.
Nerds created the computer revolution. It could never have been created by sportsmen and women, by poets, social workers, soldiers, fishermen, gardeners, adventurers, educators or anyone else … but nerds (with a little help from advertisers, marketing people and financial advisers).
Dr Wayne Dyer has a saying … “You will see it when you believe it”, which is also the title of one of his books. Enough people believed computers were an essential part of our future, so essential that they started to picture one in their office and then in their home. And pretty soon they were there.
